Join HMTXCares in reaching “One Million Points of Light” to guide us to our million-dollar goal: funding scholarships for those suffering from addiction and mental illness who could not otherwise afford urgently needed treatment. The points of light are both actual dollars generated and souls who are suffering with addiction and/or mental health issues.

Keynote
Dr. Margaret (Maggie) Lowenstein, MD, MSHP is a general internist, addiction medicine physician, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine. Dr. Lowenstein’s research focuses on novel strategies for implementing evidence-based treatment and harm reduction interventions for opioid and other substance use disorders. She is interested in the delivery of substance use care in general medical settings as well as developing and studying low-barrier treatment models for substance use disorder. Dr. Lowenstein also co-chairs the Opioid Use Disorder Workgroup of the Penn Medicine Opioid Task Force and collaborates with partners in Philadelphia to disseminate best practices for opioid use disorder care.
Panel Discussion
Following the keynote speaker, a panel discussion on "Current Best Practices and Essential Needs" will feature guest speakers from addiction and mental health agencies. They will share their challenges and successes in substance use disorder treatment including both behavioral and medical intervention approaches.

Working with McLennan Design and its founder Jason F. McLennan, one of the world’s most influential individuals in the field of architecture and the green building movement, the 24,000 square-foot building, which broke ground in April of 2021, is among the greenest in the state of Connecticut.
